Manufacturing the Inlight Way
Based in Cornwall, we oversee each stage of production - from botanical extraction and slow oil infusion through to hand filling and packaging - directly from our own custom-built lab. This gives us complete control over how our formulations are made, maintaining uncompromising standards at every step.
Here are a few ways we care for the planet while crafting your organic skincare:
-
No Fillers - Inlight products are oil-based instead of water-based like conventional creams and lotions. The result is potent, concentrated formulations. We save water and eliminate the need for synthetic preservatives or emulsifiers in our products.
-
100% Green Energy - Every formula is produced using 100% renewable power, enhanced by lunar and solar cycles during our slow infusion process before being hand-crafted and hand-filled.
-
Carbon Offsetting - We partner with Ecologi to offset all annual business emissions through certified global tree-planting and carbon-reduction projects.
-
COSMOS Organic Certification - Going far beyond ingredient sourcing, COSMOS verifies that our packaging uses appropriate materials, our products remain 100% palm-oil free, and our lab is cleaned with safe, natural solutions to maintain absolute purity.
-
Ethical Supply Chain - Our entire supply chain is bound by a stringent Code of Ethics covering human rights, environmental compliance, and fair operating practices.
-
Small-Batch Production - We make products in small batches, using only what is required to minimise waste while preserving the freshness, vitality, and bio-synergy of our natural ingredients.
-
Low-Impact Logistics - We choose to send orders via Royal Mail, who champion deliveries on foot and the use of electric vans on their journey towards becoming a net-zero carbon business by 2040.
Housing Your Inlight Products
We want to minimise waste from our products right through to the end of their lives. When you receive your order, it is packaged with simple tissue paper padding and a recycled paper packing slip - all printing at headquarters uses post-consumer, unbleached paper. Each product’s box is made predominantly from post-consumer materials, is fully recyclable, and is printed using non-toxic vegetable inks at a carbon-balanced facility. Finally, your balms, oils, and serums are housed in biophotonic MIRON violet glass to preserve product purity and potency for longer while shielding delicate botanical ingredients from harmful UV light.
Sustainable Working Culture
Living what we preach, our Cornish headquarters takes active steps every day to protect the environment and support our team. Inside the office, the team is fuelled by organic fruit, tea, and coffee available whenever needed. We keep energy use and printing to a minimum, recycle soft and hard plastics, tins, card, and paper, and even compost our lunch scraps. Even our everyday supplies reflect our values: our toilet tissue is created from post-consumer waste paper by a supplier that donates a portion of profits to global water and sanitation charities.
Meanwhile, many of our team work from home; this helps reduce commuter mileage, with team members prioritising public transport or green electricity whenever travel is required. True sustainability also encompasses human wellbeing; to support our team’s physical and mental balance, we host weekly mindfulness and office yoga sessions to reset, oxygenate, and foster a creative, connected workplace.
Social & Operational Impact
Impacting individuals and communities near and far, we strive to make a positive contribution wherever possible. Closer to home, all staff are paid above the National Living Wage, supported by a people-first culture, thorough handbooks, and ongoing ESG training to embed sustainable thinking into every business decision.
Beyond our internal operations, our community commitments focus on environmental conservation and inclusive wellbeing:
-
Preserving Local Biodiversity - We partner with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust to safeguard local habitats, alongside supporting local Cornish bee projects.
-
Inclusive Cancer Care - Oncology massage is about providing a safe space for deep relaxation and pain management. We supply specialized training to spas and massage therapists to ensure no person undergoing cancer treatment is turned away from much-needed care.
Looking Ahead
Inlight Beauty continues to refine our approach to energy usage, waste reduction, supply chain transparency, and sustainable packaging. Our raw ingredient suppliers play a vital role in our story; with increased transparency, we can make ever more informed choices when sourcing our organic botanicals.
Packaging innovation is evolving rapidly, and we are actively exploring new ways to lessen our footprint - from our Cornish laboratory right through to kerbside recycling. While our concentrated organic formulations require careful packaging selection, we remain dedicated to finding sustainable solutions.
