Re-setting your regime for the New Year
We invite you to explore the power of resetting the skin through exfoliation this month. Removing the layer of dead, dull skin cells allows for genuine regeneration, revealing your natural radiance.
The Sustainable Choice: Why Plastic-Free Exfoliation Matters
Choosing an exfoliator means considering the impact of the particles used. The widespread use of microbeads (tiny plastic spheres) in beauty products has had a devastating effect on marine life and the environment. At Inlight, we believe in treading lightly on the planet. Instead of harmful microplastics, our masks include gentle Baobab powder - a biodegradable, sustainable and highly effective alternative. Baobab powder promises to polish the skin surface whilst lifting any dead cells and encouraging regeneration. This natural exfoliant is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C, providing a nourishing cleanse that respects your skin's barrier.
What Does Detoxing Mean in Skincare?
When we talk about a 'detox' for the skin, we aren't suggesting a radical overhaul, but rather a gentle reset to encourage its natural processes. Scientifically, skin detoxing means clearing congestion by helping to eliminate accumulated dead skin cells, environmental pollutants, and excess sebum that can dull the complexion. Our skin is highly effective at its own renewal, but external factors and build-up can slow it down. The goal of a skincare detox is not to strip the skin, but to support its innate ability to regenerate and better absorb the nourishing ingredients it truly needs.
Why Exfoliate?
Exfoliation is one of the most vital steps in any effective skincare routine because it tackles the physical barrier preventing your active ingredients from working their magic.
Removing the old, dull surface layer creates a clean slate, allowing subsequent products to penetrate deeper. Did you know, removing this barrier can significantly increase the absorption and efficacy of your subsequent products, with studies showing an improvement of up to 50% or more for key ingredients?
This step ensures you get the maximum value from your natural skincare investment, amplifying the potency of your moisturisers and serums for superior results.
How to use oil based natural face masks:
Step 1: Cleanse
Begin with a make-up remover or face cleanser to gently lift the day without stripping the skin’s natural sebum production process. Organic muslin cloths are excellent to remove your cleanser and add a gentle exfoliation themselves!
Step 2: Exfoliate & Treat
Taking a blueberry-sized amount of mask, spread it across your fingertips and take a moment to appreciate the unique scents - subtle notes of chocolate orange or the grounding aroma of green superfoods. Apply your chosen exfoliating mask using small circles across the face. Only a light balmy layer is needed - add more if needed.
The best part - relax. You can leave your mask on for as little as 10 minutes whilst the potent ingredients unlock your glow.
Step 3: Tone & Prepare
To remove, simply use a cloth with warm water. Our organic muslin cloths are excellent at providing additional gentle exfoliation as you wipe away the mask.
Follow this with Floral Tonic to refresh the skin. The astringent ingredients will help temporarily tighten the appearance of pores and prepare the skin for your chosen moisturiser.
Step 4: Nourish
Layer your fresh skin with your favourite Inlight moisturiser. Embrace your fresh, regenerated glow and begin the New Year with beautifully nourished skin.
