Mindful Beauty

Mindfulness: the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.

Being mindful is something we are all born with. As children, before our brain gets crowded with information, we are much more in tune with our feelings and sense of being.
As time goes on and our lives take shape and become more cluttered, being ‘in the moment’ and staying in tune with what is happening inside and outside of us can prove more difficult.

‘Mindfulness is a connection or a re-connection to the world around us.’ says Dr Spiezia, Inlight formulator.

Too often we start to lose sight of what we are doing in the present moment. The mind is a very strong tool, often overpowering our true feelings.

‘It’s important to make time to stop and be aware of your actions, your feelings, your thoughts. Every action we take has a consequence, being conscious of that action is key’, says Dr Spiezia.

Wellbeing and mindfulness have come centre stage recently, more and more people attend Yoga classes, Meditation groups and Wellbeing workshops, all to try and calm the mind and reconnect with something more profound. Many believe that finding a balance between mind, body and soul leads to a happier life. How can we apply this principle to our skincare regime?

Mindfulness in the Beauty Industry

Being mindful for us means being respectful to our natural environment and its resources, and as a business we look carefully at every step we take, making sure we tread lightly on this earth.
Inlight Beauty & Wellness products reflect very specific, conscious decisions in line with our ethos. From our ingredients to our packaging everything has been selected with the interests of our planet and customer in mind. Everything we use is responsibly sourced. For instance our, 100% organic ingredients are certified by Cosmos, a strict awarding body which safeguards the soil, produce and its growers. We recognise the importance of being mindful to our environment as well as ourselves, to safeguard it for future generations and make the most of it for ours.
‘There is beauty all around us, we must protect and become it.’ Dr Spiezia.

Slow Beauty

We practise ‘slow beauty’. There is no rushing in nature, everything has to take its course in its own time to be the best it can be. We choose to keep every part of production under one roof, our artisan processes ensures care and quality throughout. Each in-house infusion takes up to 6 weeks to produce.
We work the raw materials as little as possible out of respect for their nature and to optimise their natural integrity and vital force.
Our products are cruelty free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. We only use oil-based formulas meaning no chemical preservative is required.
Being mindful to yourself first means being aware of what you are applying to your skin and what you are putting into your body.

‘For me Mindfulness is linking knowledge and consciousness, science and intuition in everything I do’, explains Dr Spiezia.

‘ I have reached the peak of this unity in my skin care work, creating what I have defined as the Bio-Lipophilic Matrix®, the core of my research and passion for Life and people. We cannot underestimate the importance of our skin, it’s our biggest organ, and as the epidermis derives from the embryonic layer (ectoderm) in the brain our skin and emotions are deeply connected.'

'In creating the Bio-Lipophilic Matrix ®, I have chosen some specific oils very similar to the human sebum not only to nourish the skin, but also to create a sort of subliminal dialogue between oils and skin. These oils, together with certain powerful botanical extracts, bring both their properties and a certain energetic imprinting I use to enhance their vibration.'

Our world is made of energy - molecules and atoms are nothing else but energy. In knowing these laws I have been able to produce something special that reminds our skin and energetic body that we are One and that Beauty is our ultimate expression.’

Mindful Consumers

So, a company can indeed be mindful and the people behind any production exert a huge influence on the final product, which is why a truly artisanal product differs vastly from a mass-produced product. There is so much more than meets the eye!
It’s now up to each of us to look out for such companies and become more mindful, conscious consumers, asking ourselves: Where has this come from? How is it packaged? What does it contain? Why is it better for me?

If we all make a conscious effort to be more mindful in our everyday actions, respecting ourselves and our environment, we will ensure a brighter and happier future indeed. Be aware of every moment and the future will unfold as it should.
