Firm & Tone Menopausal Skin, Naturally

In early postmenopausal women, skin elasticity can decrease by as much as 1.5% per year. As perimenopause and menopause approaches and estrogen levels drop, we may find that certain areas are especially prone to loss of tone and reslilience due to their location and composition. Some women may experience a loss of firmness as the skin becomes thinner and less taut especially in the lower back, abdomen, chest and inner thighs. Cellulite can accumulate as fat deposits push up against the top layer of the skin's surface.

Around the age of 50, as menopause approaches, the skin of the abdomen, especially around the navel, no longer appears as toned as it once did and begins to form wrinkles and cushions which become more visible as time goes on. In these cases, excellent results can be obtained by:

  • Reducing the consumption of refined carbohydrates and increasing the amount of raw vegetables and plant proteins from pulses, nuts and seeds, as well as adding healthy animal proteins such as fish, eggs and dairy.
  • Incorporating moderate daily exercise with weight training can also help to restore the epidermis’ firmness and ability to bounce back.
  • Promoting good blood and lymphatic circulation through targeted massage can help improve the appearance of cellulite and refine the silhouette.

Applying a combination of nutrient rich plant oils such as sesame, olive, hazelnut, apricot, evening primrose oil, and jojoba can revitalise tissues that have lost their natural tone. This can be further enhanced with stimulating botanical extracts known for their draining, elasticising, and antioxidant properties, such as ginger, rosemary, gotu kola, and burdock. This blend of organic plant based oils rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids can be found in many of our products and deeply nourishes the skin.

Top tip: Enhance your results by drinking plenty of water. Increase the amount of vegetables and protein in your diet. Include physical activity and targeted massage to help restore elasticity in areas of concern.

The skin of the neck and décolletage is naturally thin, lacking in sebaceous glands, and therefore can be prone to dryness, wrinkles, redness and dark spots. Overexposure to the sun’s rays or very strict diets can emphasise damage in this area. The wrinkles that mark the neck, called "rings of Venus", are horizontal folds that form as a result of our movements. They become more evident as we age, so special care should be taken to adequately cleanse and nourish the area. The chin and jawline can be a problematic zone as the skin tends to sag due to fat deposits or excess fluid in the area. Choosing the right products can help restore the skin's elasticity and support the production of collagen.

At the first signs of "relaxation" you can support your skin with a firming treatment specifically designed for the neck. Cacay and grape seed oils are exceptional ingredients for nourishing the skin of the neck, their botanical components can increase the production of collagen, which supports the tissues naturally from the inside. Thanks to their richness in vitamins A, E, and F, and antioxidants such as proanthocyanidins, they counteract the formation of free radicals, improving skin brightness and complexion. While camu camu and green coffee extracts, also rich in antioxidants, promote hydration and fortify the area.
